I completely agree, I wish they were playing a longer set.

I am just praying to Elbow-fan God that my friend's sister gets us there in good time so I don't miss a second of their set. The entire concert would be meaningless to me if I missed Elbow...

I'd be good at it though. There's no way we're missing The Hours or Elbow. I'm not that fussed about U2.

I don't have much of a choice I'm afraid. My friends aren't bothered by supports, though I have been more or less promised that we won't miss Elbow.

I don't know. They opened for Kasabian and I thought they were OK.

aaahhh give The Hours a chance they really are worth it. Unsure if giving them a chance on a stadium tour is the way to go though. My advice get your own transport and meet them in there, I would be a wreck if I had to rely on someone to get me to an Elbow gig!!

Tell them they'll piss you off if you don't see both supports.

I can't do that! I've already spoken to my friend about how much I don't want to miss Elbow, bit if I push it too far I will lose a friend, need to find my way there AND need to find my way back. I'll just have to leave it in the hands of the Gods..... Oh, I'm really nervous now... No no it'll be fine. I'm sure it will be...

So, I downloaded the tracks from a few pages back (all save the third of the first set, which wouldn't download at all), and I gave them a listen. Absolutely wonderful stuff. If this were released commercially, I would buy it in a heartbeat. But, in a way, I almost don't want this concert to see a commercial release. The reason? I would hate for the world to think of Elbow as a symphonic rock band. But between this and SSK: Live at Abbey Road, one could be forgiven for having the impression. Still, this concert sounded fantastic, and I envy every person who got to see it in person.

I'm dying, DYING for the choir's rendition of Grace to open into the full song! If any of the band read this, please consider it for the MEN gig, you would make a LOT of people very happy! _________________ And the wanting comes in waves... tumblr moderator

Sarah, I was the same way when I heard it! Such a tease to hear them start it, and then.....it goes bye-bye without a trace! Maybe they had qualms about asking the choir to sing the "...so fuck you" bit at the end, what with it being such a high-end type of gig and all. Perhaps they were worried the profanity would be disrespectful of the setting somehow? I dunno, that's the only thing I could come up with after puzzling over it for a while, but whatever the reason for their decision to truncate the song, I do wish it would've made a full-scale appearance there. Would've been grand. |
