I got a wee shock this past weekend when I was suffering through the new Disney flick G-Force with my daughter...Loudon Wainwright was in it! Just a small role and he didn't get a ton of screen time, but still...very jarring to see someone as talented as him in a piss-poor film featuring CGI guinea pig secret agents. A definite "WTF" moment for me!

Something a bit different to the games in the 'Neighbourhood, challenge your fellow boardies on their music knowledge with a bit of pop quizzing. Identify the artist from a line of lyrics, test them on trivia or if you really want to be flash, set up an intro audio clip for us to guess. It's all up to you! Whoever answers correctly asks the next question.

Starting you off with an easy one, which song do these lyrics come from?

"No fun, no sin, no you, no wonder it's dark"

I haven't seen this posted, so I thought I might as well. So what was the last album you bought or were given?

The last album I bought was Elbow at Abbey Road (damn manufactures pushing it back a whole week!)

The last album I was given, was Lady's Bridge by the lovely Richard Hawley, which was a nice surprise from my Dad. Funny, I got him into Richard and then he buys the albums before me

On several occasions in the past, the girls in the string quartet have entertained early birds at gigs with their glorious renditions of Elbow favourites old and new. It certainly made the uncomfortable wait on the MEN floor much more bearable as we sat there under the control of the Stalinist oppressors aka the MEN security.

I hope these beautiful arrangements have been captured properly in some way for posterity: It would be nice to think that a CD of these performances could be released ...

As this is the only Noisebox song that seems to be left out from the tracklisting of the advertised deluxe Asleep in the back package, I've been listening over to the three versions I have.

Noisebox, b-side and a bootleg from the last time it was played live in 2004.

I still get goosebumps listening to this song, maybe its the proggie keyboards.

Noisebox original version is my favourite... for the metallic scraping in the longer intro, ...

I do this all the time...the radio plays a tune I've not thought to listen to in a long time, and I remember how much it kicks ass. Usually it's by a band or artist who I don't listen to very often - not a guilty pleasure, just a song that went completely off my radar and then showed up out of the blue to pleasantly surprise me.

This morning, it was Atomic, by Blondie. Effing fabulous groove on that song! Heard it in the car, then when I got home I dug it out and played it about 5 times ...

How about, weekly, I post a scenario we'd "love to see" and over the week, we can suggest things (without using the original ones from mock the week).

Sound any good? Maybe at the end of the week, we could vote for who put forward the best?

I wanna get feedback on the idea first before it epically fails. But, Id really love to do it.

We could even make such scenarios elbow specific, such as , i dont know, errr "things guy garvey would ...

I don't go out to the movies as much as I want to; I have a 7-year-old, so my time at the pictures is almost always some animated crap. Last good film I saw in an actual theatre was Sweeney Todd, which was most righteous. And on DVD, I just watched a couple of good music documentaries. ...
