Yes, I think it was brave of Doves to do some they don't normally play anymore, because the choir wanted to be part that song, even if they themselves are not that keen. That IS collaboration, and got a great reception well worth it, and for Jimi to ask the choir to do an encore of one of their own songs too :-) (not on the coverage, unfortunately) just as the band had done some on their own.
I wasn't even there, but could tell it was a very special evening, on listening live on the night and then watching the BBC2 shorter coverage later that night. Have since watched the extended stream again on the Electric Proms site, and have got the audio of the set playing on my walkman now. They worked so well together when they did. It wasn't gushing or over the top, just genuine enjoyment of how that band and that style of choral voice complimented for a glorious sound. Great you got to go  |
