| Thought I'd make a spot where we can give a shout out to any good film we've seen in the cinema or on DVD. If you'd recommend it, let us know, 'cause I'm always up for new suggestions on things to watch! I don't go out to the movies as much as I want to; I have a 7-year-old, so my time at the pictures is almost always some animated crap. Last good film I saw in an actual theatre was Sweeney Todd, which was most righteous. And on DVD, I just watched a couple of good music documentaries. One was about Wilco (I Am Trying To Break Your Heart). It's been out for a while but I never saw it before, and it was very interesting, although if you're not a Wilco fan it's not gonna ring your chimes too much. Also watched New York Doll, about Arthur "Killer" Kane from the New York Dolls. I'm not the world's biggest fan of the Dolls but this was such an entertaining and affecting film. What about you guys?

| You know, I normally love the Coen Bros., but I have no desire whatsoever to see No Country for Old Men, and everything I've heard just verifies that (bleak, disappointing, creepy, etc). Last film I saw in a theater was Atonement, which I just loved. Also, Chrissie - we own a copy of I Am Trying to Break Your Heart - it's great (if you like Wilco, as you said). Did anyone else see Control, the film about Ian Curtis and Joy Division? Pretty fascinating. |

| Haven't seen Control yet, but I have read a lot of positive things about it, so I'm sure I'll rent it at some point. I also want to watch Fallen Angel (about Gram Parsons) sometime. And I think I might like to see the recent Sigur Ros concert film/doc as well. I love music docs/biopics...my favorite has to be The Fearless Freaks, about the Flaming Lips. Meeting People Is Easy (Radiohead) is also nicely done. |

| I think May 15 is the date...It's not my favourite book, but I saw the trailer and it looks more like LOTR...It's a bit more like LOTR and less like the first movie... _________________ Hooray, hooray, it's a Cheeky holiday...

| I'm not a big fan of film. Most of the stuff that comes out of hollywood is the celuloid equivalent of X Factor/American Idol karaoke chart music - It's product to make money, has no soul and as shallow as a very shallow thing. I like films with real grit or heart but I can't be bothered wading through tthe dross to get to them. Mind you I do like the Coen Bros films. I thought No Country For Old Men was excellent. I think it's one of those films (like a really good album) that needs to be seen again to get all the subtleties and nuances. Pan's Labyrinth, currently showing on Film4 I really liked as well. Dark and surreal ( a bit like Terry Gilliams films). No Country.. was the first film I'd seen at the cinema for over a year. I don't possess a dvd player. We have a VCR to record the odd thing if we're out or away for a weekend. I prefer to read and listen to music rather than watch a film. |

| I think the best films are the light comedies made by independent british directors. Such as Hot Fuzz. _________________ Fear my epic posts! Moderator
